The Germans understand the theatrical value of a radish at dinner. I learnt this when I did a random roulette on a menu in Berchtesgaden, in the Bavarian Alps and the above turned up at my table – a tankard of radishes, complete with micro sausage delicately balanced on a kebab skewer, two artistically placed pretzel sticks and a delicate, lace-like spiral of yet more radish.
Well, it was delightful, practically ikebana, but the radish repeat was insane.
I’m determined to re-create the same display later this year but using the glorious Technicolor of Bright Lights Radish mix. Step aside Nigella.
